Elementary students have difficulty concentrating during a busy school day due to common disruptions in the classroom. This inability to consistently remain on task--while not entirely the fault of the children themselves--often leads to difficult behavior problems. Elementary school students are typically in the pre-operational and concrete operational areas of Jean Piaget's developmental stages. This means that pre-operational students--the stage at which students begins school--initially think of their actions symbolically rather than how they affect others but that they move into a more logical and less egocentric mindset when they reach the concrete operational stage, usually around 7 years old.
In this tutorial system, elementary school teachers will learn how to effectively reduce disruptions through instilling classroom management techniques that are developmentally appropriate for their students. These tips will help teachers to reduce disruptions in their classrooms and, therefore, be able to better understand and teach their young students.
